Ages ago my dad gave (lent) me a flash to use for my Nikon. This is cool for two reasons. It's better than the on-board flash for my camera - although I have no idea how to use it properly. Dar. But! It's detachable! and it has a "test" function, which is pretty wicked. This means that I can utilize the flash function from a non-standard position. It's pretty crude - flashes are supposed to be set up using particular settings and arrangements, etc. but in a dark room, long exposure (~30"), low-ish ISO, medium aperture setting... works well. I did a little bit of editing afterward, but this was simply to darken the image so that the lighting effects stand out a little. choice.
